Inspired African Art was founded by Dr. Stephen Storer and his wife, Cerlinde Storer. We have collected fine art for more than 35 years, and for the past decade we have focused on exceptional 19th- and 20th-century African works. We source from collections throughout the United States, working alongside knowledgeable native African dealers and collectors based here. Over time, we have assembled a collection distinguished by rarity, quality, and visual authority, one that stands comfortably alongside respected collections around the world.

We believe these extraordinary works remain undervalued in the American market. Their significance is twofold. They are cultural artifacts rooted in deep spiritual, ceremonial, and communal traditions, and they are sculptural achievements that stand beside the finest art of any culture. They also helped shape the course of 20th-century Western modernism.

We handle, research, and vet every object in person. We draw on high-resolution photography, digital analysis, and leading resources such as the African Heritage Documentation & Research Center (AHDRC) to study each piece closely and to support confidence in its attribution and authenticity.

We believe that these works belong in living spaces, not just display cases. Working alongside interior designers, we place them as defining elements of elevated interiors, where their presence and history command the room.
